Track and map of Inca Marathon

The circuit travels through part of the Inca Trail in the Vilcabamba Valley to Cocalmayo in the West-East direction in the Inca Trail. The accumulated elevation will be: 1250 m (full), 350 m (half) and 120 m (10 k). Maximum altitude will be 4450 m in the marathon, 2900 m in the half marathon and approximately 2300 m in the 10 k.

Previously there will be several days of training as contact with the terrain and acclimatization.

The surface is a mixture of dirt tracks and trails in various environments; humid rainforest up to 2500 m, drier heath forest, up to 3500 m and rockier Andean landscape up to 4500 m, so multipurpose trail footwear is recommended. The accumulated elevation is significant but easily affordable in the program.

Equipment of
Inca Marathon

The organization has looked for the best dates to enjoy suitable temperatures in May-June, away from the heat of the northern hemisphere and spring storms. Although the weather is never under control, even so, the environmental conditions could vary.

A temperature is expected that could vary from 5ºC at the beginning, around 2ºC at the highest pass, to 25ºC at the finish line. The organization will put a clothing delivery point in case a participant wants to get rid of a winter cap, jacket, etc.
